Artha is built around anonymity and meaningful conversation. This policy tells you exactly what data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what we never do with it. We do not sell your data. We display advertising to support platform costs.

1. Who We Are

Artha ("we", "us", "our") is an anonymous intent-based chat platform operated at heyartha.com. For privacy questions or grievance redressal, contact us at support@heyartha.com.

2. What Data We Collect

Account data (collected at registration)

  • Email address — used for login and OTP delivery. Never shown to other users.
  • Password — stored as a bcrypt hash (we never store plain-text passwords).
  • Anonymous ID — a random string auto-generated at account creation. Your partners see only this.
  • Interests — optional topics selected during onboarding, used only for intent matching.
  • Plan tier and plan expiry date (if on a paid plan).

Activity data (generated during use)

  • Match count — number of sessions today, to enforce plan limits.
  • Reputation score — internal score affected by reports, used for safety.
  • Reports and support feedback messages.

3. Ephemeral Chat Sessions

Anonymous chat messages are ephemeral by default. Messages are relayed in real-time and never written to our database. When a session ends, messages are permanently deleted unless explicitly saved by user consent.

4. Cookies and Google AdSense Disclosures

We use browser localStorage for authentication tokens. To support server and infrastructure costs, we display advertising. We partner with third-party vendors, including Google AdSense, to serve advertisements on heyartha.com:

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this website.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

5. Data Deletion & Grievance

Under IT Act 2000 and Digital Personal Data Protection principles, you can request account and personal data deletion at any time by emailing support@heyartha.com. We process all deletion requests within 7 business days.
